Quartz Care & Maintenance

With the right care, quartz worksurfaces can lend aesthetic appeal to your kitchen for years. This engineered product does not require sealants, and its virtually non-porous surface makes it a durable, sanitary option. While resistant to scratches, scuffs, dents, stains and burns, these surfaces are not damage-proof. Although very little maintenance is required for quartz surfaces, the following tips should be observed to keep them looking their best:- .

DO

  • Clean with a mild detergent, water and a soft cloth or paper towel for everyday cleaning; engineered stone surfaces do not require polishing to keep them shiny and smooth, but they should be cleaned gently to maintain their distinctive shine.
  • Wipe up any spills immediately to prevent possible staining; it is always easier to wipe up a spill than to have to deal with a dried-on stain.
  • For deep cleaning, spray a generous amount of glass or surface cleanser (i.e. Cif Actifizz) over heavy stains, leave for 10 minutes and wipe away with a soft cloth or sponge.
  • Gently remove dried up food & liquids, dried paint or hardened grease with a rounded plastic knife or used credit card.
  • Remove grease & cooking stains with a cleanser only recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Use a chopping board to prevent scratches.
  • Use trivets or heating pads to guard against direct exposure to hot cookware, coffee pots etc.

 DO NOT

  • Use abrasive cleansers, harsh scouring pads and cleansers that contain bleach or chlorine.
  • Use harsh cleansers to remove grease or other cooking stains, unless recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Expose to permanent inks, markers or dyes, as these substances may not be removable.
  • Expose to nail polish remover, turpentine, and other paint stripping products; these may damage or discolour a quartz surface.
  • Expose to any strong chemicals or solvents unless your manufacturer recommends them for use in removing stubborn stains or hardened grease.
  • Expose to direct heat.
  • Use metal knives and utensils directly on the countertop.
  • Stand or sit on your countertops.
