Templating

A templater attends the property and using a laser, measures the kitchen units to create an accurate drawing of the required worksurface. The drawing contains precise measurements including overhangs, plus any cut-outs, tap holes etc. This process usually takes around an hour but is dependent on your kitchen design.

The templater will determine exactly what is to be manufactured so it is essential that everything that needs to be considered is in place and you or your designated decision maker are on site to discuss the fine details.

Once the template has been completed, you or your designated decision maker will be asked to review and sign off the worktop layout. You are signing to approve the overall appearances e.g. positions of appliances, sinks, taps, drainer grooves, pop up sockets additional overhang for breakfast bars etc.

On the drawing, templaters suggest where joints may be suitable but the final decision on joint positions rests with the drawing office.

The template drawing is then used to fabricate the worktops ensuring precise and accurate cutting for a perfect worksurface installation.

We strongly advise that your kitchen fitter reads these notes prior to installing your units.
Please Note: There is an additional charge of £150 + VAT for a return template if any of the criteria are not met or a decision maker is not on site.
The following must be in place before we can make our template: -

  • Building work carried out as part of your kitchen project must be completed.
  • All units and end panels in their final position, level and secured to the walls.
  • Alternative support provided for areas where there are no base units to support the worktops i.e. Leg supports, wall battens etc
  • Reinforcement for lengths/depths over 600mm. We recommend continuous, level support from underneath in the form of a wood, ply or MDF substrate.
  • All sinks, taps, hobs, pop up sockets etc, (including their instruction manuals) are on site.
  • Agas and range cookers are in position.
  • Wall and downdraft extractors are in position.
  • Belfast style sink are in position.
  • Undermounted sinks are in position (excluding stainless steel undermounted sinks).
  • Existing or temporary worktops have been removed (unless you have opted to have Overlay, then your existing worktops will remain in situ).
  • Walls are in their finished state and plaster is dry.
  • Clear safe access to, and within the property, as well as parking.
  • The kitchen is free of debris and other tradesmen/people for the duration of the template.

The template drawings will be forwarded to our drawing office where they are checked against the quotes we have provided. Any variations will be raised and discussed with you at this point and we will seek your written approval before we can commence manufacturing. Any additional cost will also need to be settled at this point.

Installation

Typically, anywhere between 1 and 3 weeks dependent on the edge profile that you choose, your location and the volume of orders we have to process in our factory.

Once your worktops have been manufactured, we will contact you to arrange a date & timeslot for our installation team to fit your new worktop.

Yes. We need you or a designated decision maker on site to confirm that you are happy and to sign off the finished installation.

Unfortunately, not. You will need to remove your old or temporary worktop prior to our templater's or fitting teams’ arrival. Unless you have opted to have Overlay, then your existing worktops will remain in situ.

There will be a gap to allow for expansion and due to manufacturing tolerances that could be exaggerated in places depending on how straight your walls are. Caulk can be used to fill gaps; we are unable to offer this service but can recommend upstands as an option to cover up such gaps.

The joints are not invisible. We make every effort to ensure joints are neat, tidy and as small as possible.

We bond stainless steel undermounted sinks to the underside of the worktops. Please leave for at least 24 hours after your worktop installation to allow the adhesive to set. We do not carry out any plumbing work so you will need to arrange for a plumber to connect your sink after the 24-hour period.

For larger or heavier sinks, we recommend using additional support brackets or bars, so the weight of the sink isn't borne by the worktop.

Inset sinks will be offered up to the cut-out to check they fit but won’t be stuck in place in case the plumber needs to access the pipework below.

Worktops are manufactured in our state-of-the-art factory and will arrive at your property cut, polished and with all the necessary cut-outs. On occasion there may be a small amount of cutting and polishing required, but this will be minimal.

For Dekton surfaces, there is a 25 year warranty which needs to be activated here within 6 months of purchase. You will need to enter our fabricator ID 6000007947 and attach proof of purchase.

For Quartz products, there is a warranty against any manufacturing defects for a period of 2 years from the date of completed installation. More details can be found here.

There is also a 12 month installation warranty if you choose our installation services.
